Emma Baker and Mark Urquhart Interview

 In Emotional, Mental, Physical, public

The video below is a recent interview Emma gave with Mark Urquhart.

After more than a decade of suffering from debilitating pain following two parachute accidents while serving in the Australian Army, Mark was diagnosed as an incomplete paraplegic after pain medication directly administered to his spinal cavity had crystallised around his spinal cord and he found himself facing life permanently in a wheelchair.

Mark ballooned to 130kgs over the coming years, was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression and was also dealing with a failing marriage.  It wasn’t until he started swimming with his daughter for fitness that his world began to change.

Since going into a wheelchair in 2008, he’s rolled into the record books as Australia’s open class Triathlon Champion 2014, competed in Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast marathons and now has his sights set on representing Australia at the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Winter Games.
